Russam GMS is proud to be partnering with Age UK Richmond upon Thames in their search for a new Chief Executive Officer.
Age UK Richmond upon Thames is Age UK’s local brand partner for the whole of the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames. They offer a wide range of services for older people, some of which are delivered in partnership with other voluntary or public sector organisations.
Their mission is to work with and for older people in the Borough so as to improve their lives. This very broad mission explains the very wide range of excellent services which they strive to provide.
The Chief Executive Officer of Age UK Richmond upon Thames will be responsible for delivering their clear vision to become more effective in meeting the needs of the people that they serve. A key responsibility will be to develop and sustain Age UK Richmond upon Thames as the largest and the key organisation working with, and for, older people in the Borough by the provision of direct services, campaigning and representation, researching new ways to meet needs, effective fundraising collaboration, and the maintenance of constructive partnerships.
The key tasks Chief Executive Officer role are:
Advising and acting for the Board of Trustees - recommending policies and strategies, and implementing those agreed.
Services provision and development - ensuring the effective operation of the organisation’s current services and develop new opportunities in line with the needs of the community.
External relations – be the spokesperson for Age UK Richmond upon Thames, promoting the achievements of the Charity along with the needs and wishes of older people, influence policy-makers, purchasers and providers.
Securing resources - identify appropriate potential financial resources, explore and develop potential trading activities, ensuring that any applications, contracts entered into and trading activities, are consistent with the strategic objectives and policies of the Board.
Operational management - lead the Senior Management Team and provide management, motivation and personal development support to staff and volunteers, develop and implement the organisation’s operational policies.
Governance - advise the Board to ensure that the organisation operates within the requirements of its Memorandum and Articles of Association, and the requirements of charity and company registration relevant to the organisation’s legal status.
Quality - ensure that all services are delivered to a high standard, identify, recommend and implement measures to improve the quality of services, ensure the organisation continues to demonstrate good quality by compliance with the quality requirements of service agreements.

The ideal candidate must have a proven track record of successful strategic and operational leadership in a changing and complex environment.
You must also be able to demonstrate:
A proven track record of delivering quality in a service industry.
Expertise in leading, inspiring and motivating people towards the achievement of excellence.
Ability to recognise needs and opportunities in the development of services, working with other voluntary organisations and local companies.
Strong track record of thinking strategically and translating strategy into measurable business development initiatives.
Proven track record of running operations to a firm budget with effective systems of financial management, control and reporting.
Ability to recognise needs and opportunities in the development of services.
Experience of strategic health and social care management with strong outcomes and performance focus.
Involvement in the development of social policy objectives, and influencing others to achieve these.
Good understanding of the voluntary sector and of its relationship with other bodies affecting the welfare and interests of older people.
Excellent planning, organisational and problem-solving skills with the ability to develop new approaches.
Well organised, able to prioritise work for self and others. Highly developed sense of personal integrity.
Preparation of applications or tenders and an understanding of procurement procedures.
Working knowledge of equal opportunities and diversity policies and practice, plus an understanding of employment law.
An empathy with older people and an understanding of their needs.
We are looking for an effective leader and excellent communicator; someone who has the credibility to raise the profile of the organisation and develop relationships within the broader public arena through highly effective influencing skills. We are looking for someone who has an understanding of the voluntary sector and of its relationship with other bodies affecting the welfare and interests of older people.
Stakeholder management, strategic vision and proven business acumen are central to this role and this must be complemented by a successful track record of strategic and operational leadership in a changing and complex environment. Even more importantly, we need someone with a wholehearted commitment to the achievement of Age UK Richmond upon Thames goals and a willingness to lead and develop our services to bring about the best outcomes for older people within the Borough.

Price / Salary:
£45,000 per annum (4 days flexible per week)
